Speaking Flute. Suite zum Wesen des Konzerts 2005, Performance.
In the Air
This sound installation is inspired by thoughts of an instrument independent of the musician's body - of a floating flute, one that can even perform solo. The flute's sections are fitted with flat-panel loudspeakers and so caused to vibrate. Viewers must get close to the instrument to hear the sounds.
Speaking Flute. Suite on the Nature of the Concert
Personal observations and sensory experiences of a stage musician/flautist are the sources of inspiration for the sounds and images of the performance suite "Speaking Flute". A glimpse into the thoughts and an ear behind the scenes of the interpreter.
Lara Stanic, born 1973 in Belgrade (Serbia). Lives since 1990 in Switzerland. Flautist, performance and media artist. Studied flute at the Musikhochschule Zürich and the Hochschule Musik und Theater Bern/Biel; further study for the "Offenes Musikdiplom" majoring in: instrumental theatre concept and performance, and study of music and media art at the Hochschule der Künste Bern. Central themes of her performances are the connection of electronic and digital media with the body of the musician and the acoustic instrument, as well as with the concert and performance situation.
