Annabella Supper + Marlies Fuchs [A] Klang-Farbe Tone and image piece: 2′
laboratorium Allianzgebäude am Ostbahnhof Class Bernhard Leitner Vienna
Klang-Farbe 2006
Aurally seeing or visually hearing – the possibilities of synaesthetic perception, the duality of sound and colour, are analysed in a radical reduction in the two-minute tone and image piece. Sine waves in four different frequencies, the colour blue in four hues, and precisely indicated time values form the parameters, which are superimposed in phased displacement; their harmonies mutually influence each other, intensifying, weakening, or even disappearing altogether.[...]
A concept involving rational stringency and stringent reduction: yet the assignment of a clearly defined tonal colour remains open.
Marlies Fuchs, born 1977 in Deutschlandsberg [A], lives and works since 2005 on La Réunion. In Vienna, she studied design until 2003 at the Universität für Angewandte Kunst, majoring in new media, under Bernhard Leitner, and history and social studies at the Universität Wien. Her material-installations have themes moving at the borders between two- and three-dimensional space. Since 1999, Marlies Fuchs has been a member of a group of artists in Vienna who are working on the reconstruction and performance of Ludwig Hirschfeld-Mack's colour-light films.
Annabella Supper, born 1979 in Eisenstadt [A], lives in Vienna. She has studied design at the Universität für Angewandte Kunst Vienna with a concentration in new media under Prof. Bernhard Leitner since 1997, as well as music education at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Vienna, a piano major under Adrian Cox. At the centre of her artistic works are audiovisual investigations, whose material basis often stems from the immediate urban environment – 2006 diplomiert A. Supper did her dissertation on acoustic signage in Vienna's public space. Since 1999, she has worked with Viennese artists on the reconstruction and performance of the colour-light films of Ludwig Hirschfeld-Mack.
