Born 1968 in Dortmund, lives and works in Cologne. Brand studied fine
arts at the Kunstakademie Münster under Prof. Gunther Keusen from 1988-94,
and also on his own, in the wild, from 1968-2006. He works as a freelance artist
and curator, regularly presenting lectures and workshops in Germany and abroad.
His most important exhibitions include the installation/ performance

during the festival PER-SON Raumklang-Klangraum at the Kunsthochschule für
Medien Köln (2004) and at Ars Electronica Linz (Honorary Mention 2005);
Stille Landschaft, Say hello to piece and tranquility
at the hArtware/Nicolaj Art Center in Copenhagen (2002); and
Besuchen

at the Hansagymnasium/Köln (1997). Grants took him to Los Angeles in 2003,
to Wesleyan University/USA as a visiting artist in 2000, and to the Akiyoshidai-Art-Village
in Yamaguchi/Japan in 1999. In 1998 he received a project grant from the medien
atelier in Munich for the audiovisual project
Affen.
In 2001 he was awarded the
Sonderförderpreis Junge
Kunst / Musik from the city of Dortmund.
